Rainwater Harvesting in Geita Diocese

CED has been working with two church denominations in Tanzania to improve household water access in rural areas. Local church teams from Biharamulo, Kagera and Lweru Anglican Dioceses and Musoma, Shinyanga and Geita AICT Dioceses have become experts in tank construction.  They visit rural churches and schools and build either 5,000 or 10,000 litre community tanks.  Smaller 1,000 litre household tanks are also constructed for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged families in a village.

So far CED has commissioned 310 tanks and trained 164 people. But we really want to expand the programme. The church teams have all the human resources and knowledge they need to build the tanks but they just lack funds.

CED provides grants to cover 70% of the cost of the larger tanks and fully funds the 1,000 litre household tanks that cost around £140 each.  The team from the Diocese of Geita in the Africa Inland Church in Tanzania produced the video below to highlight their work. Please will you support this initiative to allow more people in Tanzania to have access to clean water. See https://ced.org.uk/projects/tap-twinning-initiative-in-tanzania/.
