About CED

History

CED was formed in 1986 in response to a conviction that there was a need for professional engineers to use their skills in various ways to support developing countries.

It now has 70 members and many supporters bringing together professional engineers and others to use their skills in empowering our overseas neighbours to overcome poverty.

Our Christian faith motivates us but we respect the beliefs of others. We always work in partnership with communities to ensure their ownership of the project. Our overheads are small, we have no office or permanent staff, our members are all professionally qualified and provide their service at little or no cost.

The breadth of experience we have, combined with the UN Sustainable Development Goals help us to focus our practice.

We are members of the Network of International Development Organisations in Scotland (NIDOS) and registered with the International Aid Transparency Initiative.
